Relay for Life slated for Tuesday, Aug. 15

The 2023 Greene County Relay for Life is slated for Tuesday, Aug. 15, on the south courthouse grounds in Jefferson as a companion event to the weekly farmers market.

Survivors are invited to arrive at 4:30 pm for T-shirts and treats. Survivors and caregivers will walk together at approximately 4:45.

The Relay leadership team will serve a supper donated and grilled by HyVee starting at 5 pm until the food is gone. A free will donation will be accepted, with all proceeds benefiting Relay for Life.

The Town & Country Band will perform a variety of summertime music at 5:30.

“The annual Relay for Life is important for the community because it gives us a chance to honor our neighbors and loved ones who died of cancer, to encourage those who are battling cancer now, to celebrate survivors, and to raise money to continue the important work of the American Cancer Society in providing education and services and funding life-saving research,” said event leadership team chair Tori Riley said.

Persons who can’t attend the Aug. 15 Relay can contribute online by clicking here or scanning the QR code, or at Peoples Bank in Jefferson.

Persons who want more information can contact Riley at 515-370-3087, or ACS staffer Tina Coleman at tina.coleman@cancer.org

Relay for Life is the world’s largest volunteer-based fundraising event. For more than 36 years, communities of all sizes have come together to honor and remember loved ones and take action for lifesaving change.
